As in the past, continued support was extended to the Maria Monique Last Wish Foundation. The hotel participated in the handover of the wheelchairs at the Sultan’s daughter residence, GKR Pembayun. Recently we took part on the “Wheels to Heal” program. This was the closing ceremony of 1.000 wheel chairs donation and opening the 10.000 wheel chairs donation program

For the whole month of June, Melia Purosani took part in a Friendship Program called “Peduli & Berbagi” (care & share) from Rifka Annisa’s Association. The hotel Chefs gave some cooking lessons to ladies of the organization who were not too fortunate in their family living conditions. We hope with this training would assist them to be could socially and economically independent.

The Foundation donated 50 wheelchairs for the disabled in the Yogyakarta area. The hotel also donated a few wheel chairs and offered assistance in terms of accommodation for the members of the foundation to make the program possible. GARBAGE DRUM PAINTING COMPETITION

As the school holidays begin, the hotel organized a Garbage Drum Painting Competition. The groups which took part in the painting competition of the drums were from elementary schools in Yogyakarta area. The theme for the painting was “Melia cares for the Environment” and winners were provided with cash prizes as well as certificates. All 25 Garbage Drums will be donated to the Tourism sites for use and will be maintained by the hotel.
